QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS
Candidates must have a cumulative average of at least 2.00 at the time of application. A higher grade point average is preferred. Candidates not having the 2.00 grade point average may not be interviewed. Additional qualifications are included in the application packet.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND RESPONSIBILITY
Under the general supervision of an Area Coordinator, the staff shall:
Be eligible for UNM Student Employment
Be willing to work approximately every other weekend
Be willing to work some of Fall, Thanksgiving & Spring Breaks
Be willing to return each semester 1 week before classes begin
Be willing to work approximately 15 hours per week, but not more than 30
APPLICATIONS
Application forms for hourly positions and additional information may be secured from the Residence Life Office. Applications are to be returned to the Residence Life Office, 2nd Floor, La Posada.
Positions are limited, applications are accepted at all times; however, interviews are only conducted periodically, based on openings and previously interviewed candidates.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS
Candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.30 at the time of application. A higher average is preferred. Candidates not having the 2.30 grade point average may not be interviewed.
SELECTION
Selection is based on applications and interviews. Applicants must attend an information session, a group interview, and an individual interview.
COMPENSATION
Compensation includes a free single room and board plan, and a cash stipend of $2600.00 per academic year.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND RESPONSIBILITY
Under the supervision of an Area Coordinator, the Advisor shall:
- Work with 40-100 students and student groups
- Attend and participate in a weekly hall staff meeting and other periodic general staff meetings
- Rotate responsibilities for the opening and closing of the hall at each vacation period and at the beginning and end of each semester with other staff members
- Work approximately 20 hours a week with the students in the residence halls and 2 hour per week at a residence hall desk
- Have one weekend off each month
- Start work approximately two weeks before classes begin each Autumn and end with the closing of the academic year in the Spring
- Assume no officer positions or chairperson positions in campus activities nor be a member of hall or campus student government
- Assume no other employment situation during the academic year
- Take no more than 16 academic hours the first semester on the Residence Hall Staff
- Take no classes on Thursday evenings
Although Advisors are scheduled to work approximately 20 hours per week, they are expected to maintain a hall presence and availability level that insures residents that the Advisor will be available on a reasonable basis. Applicants should clearly understand that the availability and hall presence expectations are a time requirement beyond the 20 hours per week specified as an Advisor responsibility.

SHD's: STUDENT HALL DIRECTOR
A limited number of Student Hall Director Assistantships are available each year to students interested in working as student staff in the University of New Mexico Residence Halls. He or she is responsible to and works under the general supervision of an Area Coordinator and is a part-time member of the Dean of Students Staff. Student Hall Director are expected to attend staff meetings and training sessions, share supervision of Resident Advisors, advise hall student government, supervise desk operations, adjudicating minor student discipline cases and assume responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the Residence Halls. The Student Hall Director must be familiar with college life and must enjoy living and working with college age students.
The University of New Mexico has a wide variety of housing facilities and staff accommodations. Hall assignments are dependent primarily on one's qualifications and experience. Due to the limitation of apartment facilities, it is not possible to house a Student Head Resident's spouse or dependents.
Compensation includes room, board, and a waiver of tuition (equivalent to in-state tuition rate) for up to 24 hours of course work during the academic year and the following summer. A maximum course load of 9 graduate hours is allowed during regular semesters. In addition, the Student Hall Director receives a stipend of $4000 per academic year.
Personal interviews will be extended to selected applicants based on educational background and experience. Interview preference will be accorded to candidates with previous residence hall staff experience (Resident Advisor or comparable positions).

CDA'S: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Assistant
CDA help Resident Advisors in apartment-style residence halls develop a community through educational and social activities as well as resident interactions.
Qualifications:
Candidates must achieve at least sophomore class standing and a minimum of 2.30 cumulative grade point average at the beginning of employment. Appointments are for the academic year and may be renewed for a total of two years.
Selection Process:
All candidates must complete an application and statement of interest. Interview preference will be based on previous residence hall staff/leadership experience. Candidates may be interviewed but a previous interview with Residence Life may suffice. Candidates will be notified in writing of selection decisions on or about April 20th.
Compensation:
Community Development Assistants will receive a $1000 credit per semester on their Housing Account towards their room and board contract.
